The most anticipated title slated for the Xbox 360's launch is Perfect Dark Zero, from Rare. This Xbox 360-exclusive title is the prequel to the original Perfect Dark, one of the last great titles on the N64.
Perfect Dark Zero takes place in the midst of a secret war between two shadow corporations. The prize is world domination. Joanna Dark, the heroine from the first game, and her father Jack become tied up in this secret war and set out to save the planet. What begins as a routine bounty hunting mission soon reveals a much larger conspiracy that will alter Joanna's destiny.
As with much of their launch lineup, Microsoft is being very quiet on what features PDZ will offer gamers. However, what we do know is that Rare is looking to present a deep, challenging single-player campaign and a fully loaded multiplayer option over Xbox Live. The goal is to allow up to 50 players to take part in a variety of multiplayer modes. The game will also feature co-op play, though details are -- like everything else about the game -- shrouded in shadows. Both the single and multiplayer modes will feature a arsenal of both new and classic weapons, including the infamous X-ray gun that lets you see through walls. The game will also feature combat-ready vehicles like jetpacks, motorcycles and hovercrafts.
Though we didn't see much of Perfect Dark Zero at E3, there's no reason to fear. If you'll remember, a little game called Halo 2 wasn't playable last year -- and it did okay.
Look for Perfect Dark Zero to launch alongside the Xbox 360 this holiday season. |
